Johnston Industrial Supply was founded in 1962. The original building covered 9.000 square feet. The main product lines at that time were power transmission supplies including gears, sprockets, pulleys, belts and bearings. In the late 1960’s to early 1970’s we placed more emphasis into becoming a general line supplier. In 1974, we made a commitment to specialize in cutting tools. With that commitment made, we phased out power transmission supplies. We then made an agreement with Union Butterfield to become a full line stocking distributor of high speed round tools. The initial order of $25,000 in metal cutting tools established Johnston Industrial as the largest stocking location in the valley.
